1. Overview

Chore Root is a family chore app: parents set up household chores and rewards, and kids check off completed tasks to earn them.

This Privacy Policy explains what information Chore Root collects, how we use it, and the choices you have. By using Chore Root, you agree to this policy.

2. Information We Collect

• Parent account information: the parent's name, email address, and password;
• Family profiles: first names or nicknames for children, created and managed by the parent — children do not create their own accounts;
• Chore activity: assigned chores, completions, and rewards, used to run the app's core features;
• Device information: device model, operating system, and app version.

3. Device Permissions

Chore Root may request notifications (chore reminders and reward alerts). No other sensitive permissions are requested.

4. How We Use Information

We use the information we collect to:

• Provide, maintain, and improve Chore Root and its features;
• Create and manage your account and sign you in;
• Respond to your requests and provide customer support;
• Keep the app secure, prevent fraud and abuse, and enforce our Terms;
• Send service-related messages (account, security, and feature updates);
• Comply with legal obligations.

We do not use your personal content to train advertising models, and we do not sell your personal information.

5. Advertising

Our free apps are supported by advertising. We use Google AdMob to serve ads. AdMob and its partners may collect and use your device's advertising identifier, coarse location, and app interaction data to show you personalized or non-personalized ads and to measure ad performance. This collection is governed by Google's Privacy Policy.

You can opt out of personalized ads at any time in your device settings: Settings > Google > Ads > Opt out of Ads Personalization (Android). You can also reset your advertising ID there.

6. Analytics and Crash Reporting

We use Google Firebase services (including Firebase Analytics and Crashlytics) to understand how our apps are used and to diagnose crashes. These services collect aggregated, de-identified information such as device model, operating system version, app version, session length, and screens visited. Crash reports may include technical diagnostics needed to fix the problem.

7. How We Share Information

We do not sell your personal information. We share information only as follows:

• Service providers: with companies that help us operate the app (hosting, analytics, crash reporting, advertising), bound by contract to use the data only for our purposes;
• Legal compliance: when required by law, court order, or to protect the rights, safety, and security of our users and the public;
• Business transfers: in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, with notice to you.

8. Data Retention

We keep your information only as long as needed to provide the app and for legitimate business purposes. Account information is kept while your account is active. Content you delete in the app is removed from our active systems within 30 days. We may retain limited records where required by law (for example, transaction or safety records).

9. Your Rights and Data Deletion

You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal information at any time:

• In the app: use Settings > Privacy or Settings > Delete Account where available;
• By email: write to michaelwoolum50@gmail.com with the subject "Data Deletion Request" and the email address tied to your account;

We respond to deletion requests within 30 days. Deleting your account permanently removes your profile and content; some anonymized analytics may remain.

10. Children’s Privacy

Chore Root is designed for family use. Children's profiles are created only by a verified parent or guardian, contain no contact information, and are never used for advertising. Parents can review or delete their children's profiles at any time by emailing michaelwoolum50@gmail.com. If we learn a child's information was collected without parental consent, we delete it promptly.

11. Security

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to protect your information, including encrypted connections (HTTPS) and access controls. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

12. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date above and, for material changes, notify you inside the app or by email.
